Shakespeare’s Dramatic Career

As the greatest English and poet and dramatist, he has left us a great wealth of 154 sonnets, 37 plays, including 14 comedies, 12 tragedies, and 11 historical plays, as well as two long poems. But for such a great writer, we have very little definite knowledge about his life. Most of the information about him is largely guesswork.

1), The First Period (1590—1594)—- The Experimental Period
This is a period of experimentation. It is marked by imitation of exciting plays, by the spirit of youthfulness and rich imagination, by exaggerated language and by the frequent use of rhymed couplets. King Henry VI / Two Gentlemen of Verona / Love’s labour Lost

2), The Second Period (1595—1600) —The Period of Rapid Growth and Development
This is a period marked by more careful and artistic work, better plot, and a marked increase in the knowledge of human nature. Romeo and Juliet / The Merchant of Venice / Julius Caesar

3), The Third Period (1601—1608) — The Period of Gloom and Depression (or Tragedies)
During this period, Shakespeare’s belief and trust in mankind had been shattered. The world no longer seemed to be ruled by a just fate avenging crimes, but a putrid prison ruled by stupidity coupled with malevolence. “The time is out of joint:— O cursed spite, that ever I was born to set it right. 4 great tragedies: Hamlet / Othello / King Lear / Macbeth

4), The Forth Period (1609—1612)—- The Period of Restored Serenity
It is a period of calm after storm. It had neither the lightness of the beginning nor the somber violence of the middle period of his career. It had a spirit of serenity, and optimism. He again turned to comedies. The Winter’s Tale / The Tempest

Autobiography In Literature

It is the first of its kind in American literature. It is simple yet very fascinating record of a man rising to wealth and fame from a state of poverty and obscurity into which he was born, the faithful account of the colorful career of America’s first self-made man. It is, first of all, a Puritan document. It is Puritan because it is a record of self-examination The Puritans believed in Predestination, they constantly examined their conscience to ascertain for themselves how much more they should do to ensure salvation. He (Franklin) tries to note down his past experience as if in this way, he could communicate with God. The effort he made to improve his person, the belief that God helps those who help themselves and that every calling is a service to God— all these indicate that Franklin was intensely Puritan. Then, the book is also a convincing illustration of the Puritan ethic that in order to get on in the world, one has to be industrious, frugal and prudent.
It is also an eloquent elucidation of the fact that Franklin is the spokesman of 18th century enlightenment. He held that man was basically good and free by nature, endowed by God with certain inalienable rights of liberty and pursuit of happiness. Franklin confidently believed that the new world of America was a land of opportunities which might be met through hard work and wise management. He also thought that man was good and capable of becoming better, and that although men and institutions were often corrupt, they might be improved.
Its style is characterized by simplicity, clarity, directness, concision, order, as he said: “the words used should be the most expression that the language affords…. Nothing should be expressed in two words that can as well be expressed in one.”

Michael Jackson’s Thrilling Career

When I first heard Michael Jackson, I was a middel school student, and I was amazed at his strange dance. But scandal comes one after another, from that I acknowledged that he was the very king of pop. Although all slander has faded, the giant also has passed away.
He was born into the Jackson family as the 7th child of Joseph Jackson. When Michael Jackson was very young, 11 years old, he and 4 of his siblings began a band with their father Joseph Jackson as the manager. The band was called “the Jackson 5″ and the group attained much commercial success. It was not until 1971 that Michael Jackson left the Jackson 5 and began his solo career. He went on to become one of the most famous recording artists of all time and eventually became the “king of pop” a title he bestowed upon himself. His solo albums hold many titles for their astounding number of sales. 5 of his albums hold records for number of sales.
The darkest time of his life flied away, although it might make a wound deeply in the heart. His career really began to take off in the early 1980’s. In the life of pop music, he is the father of all. His music has electrified fans world over. The hit songs like, I’ll be there, shake your body, ABC and others can’t just be bygone this time. They will always linker in the fans ears for long. And he was one of the first and most popular black artists to gain a prominent following on MTV. This was due in large part to the huge budget and extravagant budgets of his music videos for his songs. Songs with record holding videos include: Beat it - Billie Jean - and Thriller.
They entitled a brand new era of music video. Some of these videos are so influential that they are credited with changing music videos from a recording of the song into mini movie works of art. This led further to Michael Jackson’s popularization of amazing and complicated dance choreographing and musical numbers. This dancing featured prominently in his live shows. His record breaking live shows earned him enormous amounts of money.
Some of the dances movies popularized at these live shows include the robot and the moonwalk. Michael Jackson’s musical influence stretched across many musical genre’s including hip-hop, pop and R&B in part because of his eccentric and distinct style of vocals and music.
All we remembered is not only his thrilling songs, but also his willing donation. One thing that many do not know about Jackson is that he raised and donated MILLIONS of dollars to over 39 charities for a multitude of causes through his namesake foundation. This is often overlooked due to his appearance and increasingly bizarre and changing appearance. Not to mention a string of child molestation accusations…

Folgers Coffee

Part of Proctor and Gamble, Folgers Coffee is one of the biggest brands of coffee in America today. The Folgers Coffee Company was founded by James A. Folgers in San Francisco, California, in the 19th century. James came to San Francisco from Nantucket Island during the California Gold Rush. Under the mid-20th century leadership of his great-grandson, Peter Folgers (the father of Charles Manson murder victim Abigail Folgers), it became one of the largest coffee concerns in North America, which has traditionally been the largest market for coffee in the world. Procter & Gamble acquired the company in 1963.
There are 8 ‘families’ of Folgers coffee (many available in decaf versions) in the United States: Classic Roast, including Classic “Red Can”, Half Caff, and Special Roast. (All Medium Roasted coffees) Coffeehouse Series, including Gourmet Supreme (Dark Roast), 100% Colombian (Med-Dark), French Roast (Med-Dark) and Breakfast Blend (Light Roast). Simply Smooth, a new stomach-friendly medium roasted coffee. Flavored Coffee, Hazelnut, French Vanilla, Chocolate Silk, Cinnamon. Folgers Gourmet Selections, a new line of plain and flavored coffees targeting “a taste of gourmet every day”. Instant Coffees,Folgers Crystals and Singles are available in Regular and Decaf. Coffee Pods, For use with one cup brewing systems such as HomeCafe. Café Coffees, Such as Cappuccino and Cafe Latte. In Canada, Folgers is primarily available as Classic Roast and Mountain Roast. In the United Kingdom, Folgers Instant Crystals are available (in UK specific packaging) at Costco stores.
Quite possibly the catchiest thing about the Folgers Coffee brand is the commercials it ran. The well known slogan “the best part of waking up is Folgers in your cup!” resonated well with audiences and boosted sales.
Other popular television ad campaigns featured people sneaking in to four-star restaurants and replacing the expensive coffee that customers are used to drinking with Folgers Crystals. Not surprisingly, nobody could ever tell that the expensive coffee had been replaced with the cheaper instant version.
In the mid 1980s through the early 1990s, Folgers advertised in the ever expanding NASCAR racing series in the United States. This was notable because Folgers was the first NASCAR sponsor to not be affiliated with an automotive, tobacco, or beer company. After a trial season with the Joe Ruttman driven, Larry McClure owned Chevrolet in 1985, Folgers expanded sponsorships with high profile race teams and popular drivers such as Tim Richmond, Benny Parsons and Ken Schrader. These cars were owned by country music singer T.G. Sheppard and by Rick Hendrick. In 1990, the Jack Roush-owned, Folgers-sponsored, Mark Martin driven-Ford Thunderbird missed a championship by 26 points.
In 2006, yet another untraditional ad campaign was launched through viral marketing. Created by the ad agency Saatchi and Saatchi, the ads known as happy mornings’ were seen all over You Tube and various web logs. In the ads, cheery and happy singers and dancers show up at sunrise to wake people up to greet the day.
We have had the pleasure to taste and review Folgers new Gourmet Selections coffee line. There are seven new varieties to satisfy your cravings: Morning Café, Espresso Roast, Vanilla Biscotti, Lively Columbian, Caramel Drizzle, Hazelnut Creme, and last but certainly not least, Chocolate Truffle.

The Initial Father Of The Vampire

A dirty trick nature has played upon me!
Yet you my dearest vampire, father,
Mock me your daughter,
For the breast that I shall never have,
For the curvaceous hips that I shall never have,
For the adult body that I shall never possess.
How I despise you for all of this,
How could it be?
You think me mad?
I think not!
Now I shall set your soul free,
It’s forever more that you shall sleep sweet prince,
For it’s your total destruction that I now seek!
A short verse I quote on the internet written by Sheryl Hanna. Anyone may remind of the vampire when you read such sentences. You have saw them in movies, and hear the thrilling voice, but do you know the initial writter of the vampire?
Abraham Stoker (his friends usually called him Bram), was an Irish novelist. He was born on November 8, 1847. He passed away on April 20, 1912. Stoker came from a large Protestant family. Bram was the third of seven children.
Bram Stoker was born with sickness, until he reached the age of seven. At that time he made an absolute recovery. Bram grew up without further illness and he was an athlete at Trinity College in Dublin. In addition to Stoker’s mathematical studies, Bram loved fiction. His early years of being bedridden resulted in endless hours of thinking and fantasizing. As a young adult Bram was attracted to the theater. After marrying Florence Balcombe, Stoker and his new wife relocated to London.
Stoker started writing to supplement his salary because his salary wasn’t enough to support him and his family.. Bram spent quite a few years researching vampire folklore in Europe. Bram was fascinated with stories of vampires. Bram traveled to gothic sites such as Slains Castle in Aberdeenshire and the crypts of St. Michan’s Church in Dublin. These in addition to other travels only fueled Bram’s interest in the morbid.
After he graduated he took a job as a clerk of the Petty Court sessions in Dublin Castle, where he wrote his first book, ‘The Duties of Clerks of Petty Sessions in Ireland’. This was published in 1879 and was a manual for the position. In 1878 he married Florence Balcombe and moved to London, England. He became the manager of Henry Irving (one of the leading actors of the time) and of the Lyceum Theatre. His novel ‘Dracula’ about a Transylvanian vampire count is probably the most famous gothic novel ever published. It is the biggest selling novel in the world and is only outsold by the bible. It has inspired and influenced over 700 films. He died in 1912 and was cremated at Golders Green Cemetery in London
Two years after Bram’s death, in 1914, his wife published the short story Dracula’s Guest. Historians think that this work was the original first chapter of Stoker’s Dracula.

After the marriage of Danica McKellar…

If you were a boy growing up in the late ’80s or early ’90s, you may have a crush on Winnie Cooper as me. I had been bearing her, the object of Fred Savage’s obsession on “The Wonder Years”, in mind constantly for a long long time. The nostalgia-fueled sitcom has been off the air since ‘93, but Ms. McKeller still has legions of fans.
Today, most of us are heartbroken. Our fair Winnie is officially off the market. Yep, this past weekend, she got married. The nuptials caused a huge surge in Search. Men pushed queries on “danica mckellar married” and “winnie cooper married” through the roof. McKellar, who is now an author and mathematician, also saw queries rise on her famed photo spread for Stuff Magazine. Searches on the groom, composer Mike Verta, also hit a high note. Not surprisingly, the majority of Danica’s lookups came from male Gen-Xers.
Born in La Jolla, California, McKellar moved with her family to Los Angeles when she was eight. Her family is “a big mix of Western Europe.” Her mother’s ancestry is Portuguese via the Azores and Madeira islands and her father’s ancestry is Scottish, French, German and Dutch. McKellar and sister Crystal McKellar both maintained professional acting careers as children, but with a strong emphasis on education as a priority. As a result, Crystal became a lawyer, and Danica majored in mathematics in college.
McKellar is famous for the leading role in The Wonder Years, an Emmy Award–winning American television comedy-drama that ran for six seasons on ABC, from 1988 to 1993. The pilot aired on January 31, 1988 after ABC’s coverage of Super Bowl XXII. In an episode entitled “The Accident” and in the final episode, it is stated that every important event in Kevin’s life somehow involved Winnie. She lives on the same block as Kevin. Their first kiss plays an important part of the pilot episode, as does her older brother’s death while serving as a soldier in the Vietnam War. In one episode, her parents decide to get separated because of their grief over the death of their son. According to the epilogue in the final episode, Winnie studies art history in Paris. Kevin and Winnie write one letter to each other every week for eight years until her return. Despite their life-long romance, they never marry.
She had a little “bumpy” transition from child actor to adult actor. Since leaving The Wonder Years, McKellar has had several guest roles in television series, and has written and directed two short films. She briefly returned to regular television with a recurring role in the 2002–03 season of The West Wing, portraying Elsie Snuffin, the sister and assistant of Deputy White House Communications Director Will Bailey.

Far more than that as an actress, McKellar has chieved greatly in other fields such as mathematics, her major, and writting.
She studied mathematics at UCLA. At that time, she became a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She graduated summa cum laude in 1998. As an undergraduate, she coauthored a scientific paper with Professor Lincoln Chayes and fellow student Brandy Winn. Their results are termed the ‘Chayes-McKellar-Winn theorem’ Referring to the mathematical abilities of his coauthor students, Chayes was quoted in the New York Times as saying, “I thought that the two were really, really first-rate.”
Another role is the author of the book Math Doesn’t Suck: How to Survive Middle-School Math without Losing Your Mind or Breaking a Nail, which encourages girls in middle school to enjoy and succeed at mathematics. The book has been favorably reviewed by Tara C. Smith, the founder of Iowa Citizens for Science and a professor of epidemiology at the University of Iowa. In an interview with Smith, McKellar said that she wrote the book “to show girls that math is accessible and relevant, and even a little glamorous” and to counteract “damaging social messages telling young girls that math and science aren’t for them”. McKellar’s second book, Kiss My Math: Showing Pre-Algebra Who’s Boss , was released on August 5, 2008. The book’s target audience is girls in the 7th through 9th grades. As of September 23, 2008, both of McKellar ’s books have held steady on the New York Times bestseller list - in the top 10.
McKellar was named Person of the Week on World News with Charles Gibson for the week ending August 10, 2007. The news segment highlighted her book Math Doesn’t Suck and her efforts to help girls develop an interest in mathematics, especially during the middle school years.
However, all those have passed already, and she has got married now. The just one figure in our mind is Winnie Cooper in “The Wonder Years”.

Obama surprises daughters with new swing set

First daughters Malia and Sasha Obama got a big surprise after school Wednesday: a brand-new swing set.
They squealed with delight upon seeing it, a spokeswoman for the first lady said.
President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, went to work while the girls were at school, arranging for the set to be installed on the south grounds of the White House within sight of the Oval Office, where their father spends plenty of time.
Late last year as the couple planned the family’s move to Washington, they talked about ways to make the historic residence feel more like home for their girls, said Katie McCormick Lelyveld, a spokeswoman for Michelle Obama.
Malia and Sasha, ages 10 and 7, had never lived anywhere but Chicago.
“Many first families have made these sorts of changes to make the White House feel like home,” McCormick Lelyveld said. “This one is like their little mark.”
The 100 percent cedar and North American Redwood structure has four swings, including a tire swing, a slide, a fort, a climbing wall and climbing ropes. There’s also a picnic table with brass plates etched with the names of all 44 presidents, she said.
“They ran right for it. They were really, really excited. All four of them,” McCormick Lelyveld said.
The girls played on the set for almost an hour in chilly weather, she said.
The Obamas paid for the swing set, which was made and installed by Rainbow Play Systems of Brookings, S.D. The company advertises itself as the most trusted brand name in wooden swing sets, according to its Web site.
